Corneille – Central Park (litho) In this black-and-white lithograph, Corneille presents a fantastical park landscape. With flowing lines and stylized forms of animals and people, he creates a playful, almost surreal world. Despite the absence of color, the work remains vibrant and emphasizes the freedom and imagination that are characteristic of his style. This is an early work. Corneille (1922-2010) was a painter and graphic artist who radicalized the conservative Dutch art world in the early fifties. Together with five other influential artists, including Karel Appel and Constant, he helped found the postwar European Expressionist movement CoBrA in 1948. Corneille attended drawing and etching courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam between 1940 and 1942, but is generally regarded as an autodidact painter. Initially strongly influenced by Picasso, Corneille produced abstract work. From the late sixties, Corneille's work took on a more figurative character. In this work birds, women and flowers are often the subject. Dimensions of the work: 22 x 30 cm Dimensions of the work with frame: 39 x 47 Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house frame workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we work with restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'.
