Old T. Cooke London precision prismatic compass, No. 1169, brass-made. Professional instrument intended for orientation, surveying, topography, and it can also be associated with navigation and maritime applications. It features a graduated dial with magnetic needle, a sighting system, a fold-down prism allowing the reading of graduations during aiming, as well as a hinged lid with a mirror. Fine British workmanship characteristic of scientific and geodetic instruments from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The set shows a handsome brass patina as well as signs of use in keeping with its age. An interesting piece for collectors of scientific instruments, topography, geodesy, orientation, navigation, and antique maritime equipment.
