COLLECTION of Various Curious Pieces for the Purpose of History. Cologne, Jean du Castel [à la Sphère], 1664. In-12, contemporary vellum half-leather binding. Partially original edition of this collection of five pieces, including: The Conspiracy of Donna Hyppolite of Aragon, Baroness of Alby, against the city of Barcelona, in support of the Catholic King; the Account of the Death of the Marquis de Monaldescki, Grand Equerry to Queen Christina of Sweden, on November 6, 1657; and a Letter in the Name of a Stranger, Concerning the Peace Between France and Spain. This is one of Foppens’s finest works (Willems, no. 2006). A small, faint water stain at the top of a few pages.
