Collecting the Fish. Signed. Spanish School. 19th Century

Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 70 x 38 cm and 96 x 65 cm. Port scene in which a young fishmonger appears standing, surrounded by baskets, against a seascape bathed in the light of dawn. The regional costume, the floral details on the ground, and the figure’s serene expression lend an idealized and nostalgic character. The vertical composition elegantly frames the female figure and gives prominence to the decorative elements and the coastal atmosphere. The brushwork is precise and refined, especially in the folds of the dress and the textures of the baskets and fish. This work falls within the nineteenth-century costumbrismo style, with a clear decorative intent and exaltation of traditional trades. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
