Elegant pendant in real gold made from an authentic British coin of 1 Pound (Sovereign) minted in 1874, during Queen Victoria's reign. The coin features on the obverse the profile of Queen Victoria with the inscription VICTORIA D G BRITT REG, while on the reverse it depicts Saint George slaying the dragon, the famous engraving by Benedetto Pistrucci, with the date 1874 visible at the bottom. The coin is original and historic, subsequently mounted as a pendant with a simple and functional setting, probably made for personal use. The item presents itself as an antique jewel, ideal for both coin-enthusiasts who collect mounted coins and for those who desire a gold jewel with strong historical value. Technical characteristics • Type: Pendant with coin • Coin: United Kingdom – Sovereign (1 Pound) • Year: 1874 • Coin material: Gold 22 kt (fineness 0.917) • Coin weight (standard): about 7.99 g • Total object weight (coin + setting): about 8 g • Coin diameter: about 22 mm • Condition: circulated coin, with wear consistent with age; setting in good condition • Note: the coin is sold mounted, as shown in the photographs, and not as a standalone numismatic coin Also the suspension ring of the pendant is solid gold but 18K, unlike the 22K of the coin. The Sovereign is one of the most iconic and recognized gold coins in the world. This 1874 specimen, although not intended for pure numismatic collecting due to the mounting, retains full historical and intrinsic value tied to gold, and is particularly appreciated as an antique piece of jewelry.
