Clothes iron (5) - Steel, Bakelite, Plastic

This splendid collection shows the evolution of appliance design in the mid-20th century, with a selection of vintage dry electric irons produced mainly between the 1950s and 1960s. Many of these iconic models bear the signatures of historic European brands, known for their build quality and the use of bakelite. Among the irons recognizable in the photo we find: • Rowenta "Federleicht" (Light as a feather): The first model on the left, a famous compact travel iron with a brown bakelite handle. • Dauerlux / Siemens / Rowenta (Classic dry models): The other items in the collection, including the central models and the one at far right, show the typical glossy chrome-plated flat plates and the characteristic power cords covered in two-tone woven fabric (white and black), a true hallmark of the era.
