Clock - Nufa - Glass, Metal - 1950-1960 - Vintage table clock

UFA electric desk clock – Dutch Mid-Century design – wrought iron scroll frame – approx. 1955–1970 A particularly decorative vintage desk clock by NUFA, executed in a pronounced Dutch Mid-Century design. The round clock is mounted in an elegant metal base with large, hand-formed scrolls and subtle gold-colored accents. This makes it not only a timepiece but also a striking decorative interior object. NUFA stands for Nederlandse Uurwerken Fabriek Amsterdam. The brand produced electric clocks in the post-war period for homes, schools, offices and institutions. Comparable NUFA clocks are usually placed in the 1950s and 1960s; desk models with decorative metal bases are also known. The clock features a lovely dial with a deep black central field, surrounded by a light cream-colored ring with gold-colored hour markers and stylized numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. The slender gold hands harmonize nicely with it. The base is the most characteristic element. The graceful volutes and asymmetrical scrolls give the clock a distinctive 1950s/60s look, somewhere between Mid-Century, modernist and decorative wrought-iron design. Similar electric NUFA desk clocks from the 1960s–1970s are made of wrought iron and brass-colored metal. The back shows the NUFA mark, confirming the manufacturer. * Manufacturer: NUFA – Nederlandse Uurwerken Fabriek Amsterdam * Origin: Netherlands * Type: electric desk clock / mantle clock * Period: probably circa 1955–1970 * Style: Mid-Century Modern / Dutch vintage design * Round clock head with black-creamy dial * Gold-colored numbers, markings and hands * Decorative metal base with large scroll motifs * Globular feet * Electrical connection * No striking mechanism * Original NUFA marking present Condition: nice original vintage condition with clear, but appropriate signs of use and age.
