Clarksville, Texas. $5 1929 Ty. 2. Fr. 1800-2. First NB. Charter #13974. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25. Even though the National Bank Note Census records a total of 13 non-institutional notes on this Red River County-based bank, bidders are nonetheless met with a rare opportunity to be had. The reason behind what makes this note a "rare opportunity" can be chalked up to the fact that 12 of the notes on the recorded population represent sheets that have likely been cut apart per available records effectively making this note a real survivor when held against its peers. Based on the fact alone that this piece represents the sole survivor on this bank that experienced actual circulation, it stands to reason that bidders have here for their consideration an important note that does well to underscore the deceptive rarity of this institution. PCGS Banknote comments "Minor Stains." Estimate: $800 - $1,200. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
