Brand: Citizen Model: Seven Star V2 Reference Number: 4-780108 TA Serial Number: 01101606 Movement: Automatic caliber 7280, 23 jewels Dial: Vibrant blue sunburst with full day at 12 o'clock and date at 3 o'clock Case Size: 37 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1970 Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +10+13s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The striking and well-preserved dial features a vibrant blue sunburst finish that catches the light beautifully. Applied faceted indices provide depth, while the layout is defined by a full day display at 12 o'clock and a date window at 3 o'clock. The dial remains in clean condition with minimal signs of aging or degradation, retaining its crisp printed text throughout. The original and clean polished baton hands feature luminous inserts that appear intact with mild aging. Under magnification, light oxidation is visible on the hands, consistent with the age of the watch. Case and Crystal The stainless steel cushion case displays honest vintage wear, featuring brushed top surfaces that transition into polished flanks. The case shows moderate surface scratches and scuffs consistent with age and normal wear, though the edges remain reasonably defined. A polished smooth bezel is integrated smoothly into the case design, exhibiting surface scratches and wear that match the rest of the case. The watch is fitted with a knurled crown signed 'CTZ', which shows some light wear. The flat crystal presents minor surface scratches and scuffs visible in harsh light reflections, but is free of any major chips or cracks. Movement Powering the watch is the automatic 23-jewel caliber 7280, featuring a signed rotor. The movement maintains a generally clean appearance with minor signs of handling and light surface wear on the plates. Engravings reading "CITIZEN 23 J.", "JAPAN", and "7280" are clearly visible, with the caliber number stamped near the balance wheel. The caliber 7280 is notable for offering both hacking seconds and manual winding capabilities, alongside a practical quickset date function. The timegrapher records a rate of +10+13s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed bracelet. This matching stainless steel link bracelet is secured by a signed Citizen folding clasp. It displays moderate surface scratches and scuffs on both the links and the clasp, consistent with the wear found on the case. The bracelet accommodates a maximum wrist size of 17.5cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The case and integrated bezel show honest vintage wear, with moderate scratches and scuffs that reflect normal use. The dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, while the hands show only light oxidation visible under magnification. The crystal bears minor surface scratches but remains structurally sound. The original bracelet mirrors the case with moderate surface wear. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly. Dimensions The case measures 37 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Seven Star V2 distinguishes itself through its vibrant blue sunburst dial and the unusual 12 o'clock day layout. Complete with its original signed bracelet and delivering strong timegrapher performance, it offers a highly authentic and appealing package for collectors of vintage Japanese horology. History The Seven Star V2 series was positioned as a mid-range offering in Citizen's catalog during the 1970s, sitting just below the higher-beat Leopard models. Powered by the versatile caliber 7280, the series provided robust features including hacking seconds and manual winding, representing Citizen's commitment to delivering advanced mechanical capabilities in stylish, everyday configurations.
