The watch retains its distinctive original branding and features an in-house Citizen automatic movement with a signed rotor, presenting a highly attractive vintage aesthetic. Brand: Citizen Model: Auto Dater Uni Reference Number: 3322099 Movement: Automatic, 19 jewels Dial: Silver sunburst with applied gold-tone indices Case Size: 38 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-plated, stainless steel caseback Production Year: 1960s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +11+15s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The dial is exceptionally clean and attractive for its age, featuring a well-preserved silver sunburst finish. Applied gold-tone indices remain clean and reflective, complementing the crisp and fully intact printed text that includes the distinctive Auto Dater Uni branding. Very minor surface spotting is visible only under high magnification. The gold-tone dauphine hands show moderate oxidation and surface spotting, presenting typical vintage aging that contrasts slightly with the clean dial, though they remain free of any significant physical deformation. Case and Crystal The gold-plated case presents honest vintage wear with expected plating degradation on high contact points. It shows moderate surface scratches and handling wear, along with some visible plating wear on the lug edges and case flanks. The unsigned knurled crown also displays some plating wear. The stainless steel caseback retains legible engravings, including the C.G.P. and STAR markings. The domed acrylic crystal shows light surface scratches and minor scuffs consistent with normal use, with no deep cracks or chips visible. Movement Powering the watch is a Citizen automatic movement, featuring an oscillating weight rotor signed CITIZEN AUTODATER UNI and 19 JEWELS. The movement appears clean with no obvious signs of heavy corrosion or moisture damage. The rotor shows light surface scratches, while the screw heads and plates are in good visual condition. The watch records a timegrapher reading of +11+15s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is paired with a complementary black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. It is in good wearable condition, showing light wear and creasing. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally clean, while the hands display moderate oxidation. The gold-plated case shows moderate surface scratches and handling wear, with plating degradation visible on the lug edges, flanks, and crown. The crystal has light scratches from normal use. The movement records a strong timegrapher result, confirming very capable mechanical performance. Dimensions The case measures 38 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Auto Dater Uni offers a striking mid-century visual presence with its remarkably clean silver sunburst dial and classic dauphine hands. The legible original caseback engravings and strong movement performance make it a highly appealing choice for collectors of early Japanese automatics. History Debuting around 1964, the Citizen Auto Dater Uni line represented a significant technical step for the brand. The Uni designation was marketed to highlight the practical combination of an automatic movement with a date complication. Internally, the UNI movement, designated as caliber 2400 for models with a date, was Citizen's first oscillating weight automatic design. This new architecture replaced the previous Jet circular gear system, establishing a modern foundation for Citizen's automatic watch production throughout the 1960s.
