CICERO. Orationum volumen primum [- secundum]. Paris, Simon de Colines, 1543. 2 volumes in-16, fawn calfskin, covers entirely covered with an interlaced pattern of brown bands set with gold fillets, accompanied by azure fleurons, smooth ornate spine, chiseled and painted edges (contemporary binding). The first two volumes, on their own, of Cicero’s Works published by Simon de Colines from 1543 to 1547 (Renouard, pp. 369–370). A well-preserved copy in a very attractive contemporary binding. From the Hans Furstenberg library, with bookplate (1970, no. 37). Volume I: upper margin of the title page repaired; faint water stain at the corner of ff. 14–15; and a tear without loss along the edge of f. 149. Binding very skillfully restored; covers of Volume I rubbed, with parts of the decoration slightly faded.
