All auctions / Miscellaneous / Christmas decoration Philips (2) - Bakelite

Two beautiful vintage strings of Christmas lights with bakelite fittings and plug, probably produced between 1940 and 1950 by Philips. The large box with the different-colored bakelite fittings is very rare and may be older. The other set is somewhat more common. The fittings all have a clamp with a ball joint to adjust them. The dimensions of the large box are 4.5 x 44 x 19 cm and it weighs 1205 grams, the small box 11 x 26 x 11 cm, 1103 grams. The cords of the large box are stiff, but that seems to be how they should be. Both sets work well, but the bulbs get very hot, so if you want to use them safely it’s best to replace the bulbs with LED bulbs. One bulb has a chipped outer shell, but it still works well. Some of the spare bulbs don’t work, or the contacts are oxidized. On the large box the lid has writing in pen. See photos, the photos are part of the description.
