Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Bowl

East Asia, China, Ming to early Qing Dynasty. A Chinese provincial blue and white bowl with steep flared sides rising from a short foot ring to a slightly everted rim. The exterior is painted in underglaze cobalt with rows of loosely brushed motifs in the manner of cursive script, arranged in panels divided by vertical strokes. Inside, a band of slanted leaf strokes between blue lines runs along the rim, and a double ring encircles the well around a single dab of cobalt at the center. An unglazed stacking ring surrounds the center, left where another bowl rested on it in the kiln. The grayish glaze has an overall crackle, and the foot ring is unglazed, showing the buff clay body.
