CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. Russo-Chinese Bank. 5 Taels, 1907. P-S532cts2. S/M#O5-21. Back Color Trial Specimen. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. Peking. Light purple and olive-brown, single dragon and fireball at centre, Chinese text within ornate borders. This is a unique back design, and the first we've handled or seen. This Chingping Tsuyin Tael shows a vertical reverse, though the adopted front design is horizontal. Beautiful soft plum colours adorn this side of the colour trial. PMG reports two uniface reverses ONLY, and no uniface obverse or double-sided printing. We sold the other piece, graded PMG 63, for $4560 including Buyer's Premium. An incredible opportunity to acquire such a rare piece.

Estimate:$1,000
