Antique Aubusson-style Chinese rug – 240 × 145 cm We present a precious antique Chinese rug in Aubusson style, made approximately between 1940 and 1950. Origin: China Era: 1940–1950 Measurements: 240 × 145 cm Material: 100% wool on a cotton base Technique: Traditional hand-tufted Craftsmanship: 100% handmade The rug is crafted using an old technique of manual tufting, where wool tufts are worked by hand on a cotton base. On the back, the structure is stabilized with a traditional fixing compound that keeps the tufts in place, and finally protected by a textile lining. The pile is worked and trimmed by hand, creating the beautiful raised relief characteristic of this type of rug. It features an elegant Aubusson-inspired floral design, with a delicate color combination and an attractive raised effect. For its approximate age of 75–85 years, it is in fairly good overall condition. The protective lining on the back shows dirt, stains, and wear typical of the years, as clearly seen in the photographs. A professional, specialized cleaning is recommended due to both its age and its particular manufacturing technique.
