Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chimu-Chancay. A wearable pendant made of five ancient copper beads, threaded on a modern black cord with a lobster clasp. Four of the beads are sharply carinated biconical forms that look like tiny spindle whorls. The lowest bead flares outward and is ringed by two raised ridges. Finely incised hatching and spiral motifs cover the surfaces, now softened under a mottled verdigris patina in deep teal and sea green. Copper beads like these were likely strung as necklaces or sewn onto garments, where they marked rank along the Peruvian coast. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
