CHEST OF DRAWERS IN EUROPEAN VARNISH

A curved, spring-loaded chest of drawers with two drawers and no crossbar. The frame is made of oak; it is decorated on all three sides with a European lacquer finish in gold, red and green tones on a plain black background, featuring Far Eastern figures, pagodas and a swing, whilst the sides are adorned with birds, butterflies and flowers. France, 18th century. Height: 84 cm – Width: 130 cm – Depth: 62 cm . Top in Aleppo breccia marble, moulded in a ‘bec de corbin’ style. Fittings in antique chiselled and gilded bronze.
