Chess set - Jaren 60 Okwa Schaakspel en Backgammon spel - Wood

This lot comprises a special chess set from the Netherlands, presumably from the 1950s or 1960s. OKWA was a Dutch company that produced high-quality tools and games in the mid-20th century. The chess sets were well-known for their vintage colors and the veneered chess pieces. This chess set consists of beautiful turned, handmade chess pieces. The pieces have a glossy, luxurious look thanks to the lacquer finish. The pieces are handmade from a good type of wood and have a layer of felt on the underside. The king measures 9 cm. The pawns 5 cm. The chessboard is a so-called folding board. On the inside the chess pieces can be stored. Inside the case lies a beautiful backgammon set with 2×16 stones and 4 dice. The stones are made of palm wood and lacquered. A gorgeous appearance in combination with the vintage colors of the backgammon board. The chessboard is in nice condition and measures 46 × 46 cm. The square size is 4.25 cm. The closures show corrosion, but they work perfectly. This unique Dutch chess set and backgammon set will be sent by registered mail and well packaged.
