Chess set - intarsiata con pezzi figurativi intagliati - Wood

Decorative inlaid chessboard with carved figurative pieces – 30 × 30 cm A detailed wooden chessboard, characterized by rich geometric decoration and figurative pieces with flat silhouettes, carved and incised. The board alternates black squares with honey-colored squares adorned with star rosettes, with small mother-of-pearl details. Thin lines delineate the playing area, while a banded frame and a finely grooved edge complete the composition. The pieces, in wood brown tones and ivory crema, depict stylized characters, horses and towers, all on rectangular bases. The engravings delineate faces, clothing and headgear, giving the whole a sculptural character unusual for traditional chess. A piece to use for playing or to display on a small table, a desk, or in a collection of curiosities. Chessboard dimensions: 30 × 30 cm. Piece height: from 4.5 to 7.5 cm. Total weight: about 1.5 kg. Shows signs of use, surface scratches and finish wear, with small chips and missing portions along the edges of the chessboard and the absence of a small inlay on one square, visible in the images. Conditions as shown in the photographs, an integral part of the description.
