Karel or Charles Victor Ensinck (1846-1914) A Hague School painter. Born: April 13, 1846, Breda. Died: September 21, 1914, The Hague. Place and period of activity: Paris, from 1870 to 1873. Studied 1870-1873? Scheveningen (The Hague), from 1886 to 1914. Ensinck was a painter of portraits, still lifes, and figure pieces, who also painted Scheveningen subjects. The painting measures 65 cm by 72 cm with frame; the canvas itself is 40 cm by 72 cm. The artwork is hand-signed lower left CV Ensinck in black on dark brown paint, but clearly visible up close; it was painted circa 1886 and is part of a private collection. In the photo there are unfortunately many small shiny reflections of light, and these are not damages or restorations. Also the frame, partly gilded, is in good condition. His work is rarely offered on the market and is found mainly abroad. NOTE: The artwork is sold only in Europe.
