Charles Blondin (1913-1991) - Port Breton

Charles Blondin (1913–1991) – Breton port scene The Artist: French painter born in Paris and trained at the School of Fine Arts, Charles Blondin (1913–1991) specialized in landscapes and everyday life. Internationally recognized and named chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1959, he is noted for his textured technique with pronounced impastos. His paintings are in major museums (Paris, Montreal). The Painting: Oil painting, monochrome on panel (shades of gray) representing a Breton port or a tributary with sailboats moored along the quays, under a cloudy sky. The painting is signed bottom right and focuses on contrasts, materiality, and thick textures. Condition: Good overall; I note very light scratches (see last two photos). Sold without a frame.
