Antique Library Chair / Stair Chair – Historicism, Neo-Renaissance Style, probably late 19th century Exceptional, richly decorated library chair with integrated stair function, presumably from the late 19th century, stylistically assignable to Historicism or Neo-Renaissance. The decorative piece of furniture can be transformed from a chair into a four-step library staircase by means of a folding mechanism. Especially noteworthy is the intricately worked, openwork backrest with floral carvings, flowing ornaments and turned spiral columns. The seating surface features a classic cane weave and is framed by a richly carved wooden frame. The dark brown wood surface shows a characteristic patina and underlines the historic character of the piece.
