Chair - Savonarola - Leather

Chair, Dagobert model known as Savonarola, in 19th-century Empire style, Italian production mid-20th century around 1930-1950. X-frame structure in solid walnut-stained wood, seat and back in original testa di moro leather with studding, scroll arms with carved rosette, uprights with gilded shell palmettes and gilded lion paw feet. Dimensions: H 92 x W 69 x D 63 cm Condition: fair to good and structurally stable. Leather shows signs of use and scratches, gilding with losses and chipping typical of age, wood with patina and small marks. There are woodworm holes on the X-frame legs as shown in the photo; anti-woodworm treatment recommended. Sold as seen, as-is, to be restored. Provenance: private collection, Lombardy.
