Chair (2) - Mahogany, Leather, Brass

Pair of solid mahogany dining chairs carved in the Louis XV style with leather-upholstered seat and lion-foot cabriole legs. These chairs represent the twentieth-century interpretation of the Louis XV style, characterized by curved lines, elaborate carvings, and cabriole legs ending in lion's paws. Probably produced in the 1940s, they reflect the taste for the Historicist revival that dominated European furnishing in the first half of the 20th century. Louis XV-style chairs are highly valued by antique furniture collectors and lovers of classic interior design for their timeless elegance and artisanal quality. These pieces are particularly sought after by interior designers and owners of period homes who want to recreate refined, historically accurate settings, as well as by restaurateurs seeking to confer an aristocratic atmosphere on their venues.
