Historic necklace with turquoise, rose-cut diamonds and pearl – Napoleon III period A special three-row necklace, composed of round turquoise beads in a clear blue color, with a richly decorated gold-colored centerpiece that is believed to date from the Napoleon III period (1852–1870). The historical centerpiece is crafted in an elegant, cartouche-shaped frame with detailed relief work and curling ornaments. In the center is a blue enamelled surface, decorated with floral motifs and set with rose-cut diamonds. The headpiece is made of 18-karat yellow gold and the clasp of 14-karat yellow gold. The centerpiece presumably originally formed part of another piece of jewelry and was later processed into the central element of this necklace. On the underside, at a later stage, a cultured pearl, presumably an Akoya pearl, was added. The back shows signs of these adjustments, as visible in the photos. The combination of the historical centerpiece and the three rows of turquoise gives the necklace a striking character.
