Typical 1930s Art Deco coffee table / gueridon, Living room or smoking table (gueridon) with a circular top. Top: Round top in veneered wood with a geometric/sector pattern, surrounded by a shaped edge in solid wood of substantial thickness. Center support and legs: The supporting structure is formed by a solid faceted central body with vertical grooves and decorative canalized elements on the sides. The base rests on an X-shaped cross foundation in solid wood that ensures great stability. Wood and Finish: Made of fine wood (walnut or burr walnut) finished with a warm blonde/amber shellac polish. Era of Realization Presumed year: circa 1930–1935 Historical context: It is a typical example of Italian or French cabinetmaking of the 1930s, a period when the organic lines of the previous Art Nouveau gave way to rigid architectures, monumental volumes, and essential geometric shapes, typical of Art Deco design.
