A Technical Paragon from the 1770s CC-35. Continental Currency. May 9, 1776. $5. PCGS Currency Gem New 66 PPQ. No. 88014. Offered here is a well-printed Continental that offers a wonderful contrast between the bold design elements and period pen signatures. Here bidders are met with the rounded vignette seen at left encircled by the Latin motto "SUSTINE VEL ABSTINE" which roughly translates to "Either Survive or Give Up" which does well to capture the period sentiment alongside the border cut seen along the top margin that reads "THE UNITED COLONIES." Yet the message of this item is secondary when held against its material condition as full margins and bold detail evocative of the day this note was printed collectively set a technical norm impossible to overlook and stand guaranteed to command the attention of bidders. Estimate: $5,000 - $7,000. Click here for certification details from PMG.
