Offered in excellent vintage condition: original Cassina design armchair and ottoman The Cassina Maralunga armchair is a masterful design by Vico Magistretti. According to legend, one day Vico Magistretti was idly playing with a pack of cigarettes and conceived what new sofa he would design. The opening and closing of the pack gave him a unique idea: an adjustable backrest. Each backrest could be folded independently at a 90-degree angle, just like the cigarette pack. It became a remarkable success, and the armchair is still regarded as one of the most famous Italian design sofas. Quality, form, and comfort come together in Cassina’s design, which holds a patent on the innovative mechanism for the backrests.
