Ornithological Sculpture of Excellent Craftsmanship and Crystal Quality — This unique specimen represents an ornithological sculpture of notable workmanship, skillfully crafted using a selection of high-quality minerals. The main body of the parrot is carved in rose quartz, a mineral characterized by its delicately pinkish hue, often attributed to traces of manganese, titanium, or iron. The glossy finish enhances the translucence typical of this macrocrystalline variety of quartz, offering a soft and reflective surface that gracefully catches the light. The meticulous engraving of the feathers gives the piece tactile and visual realism. The mineralogical composition is enriched by the use of agate for the beak, green quartz for the head, and multicolored inlays of varied gems in the tail feathers. These elements not only add a distinctive color contrast, but also highlight the craftsmanship in selecting and combining different hard stones to create a harmonious and dynamic visual effect. The gleam of the eyes, probably onyx or another polished dark stone, completes the animal's portrait with a note of liveliness. The parrot is firmly anchored by elegant metallic elements, simulating golden legs, to a remarkable clear quartz crystal (rock crystal). This crystal serves as a natural pedestal, displaying its prismatic faces and terminations, though partially rough at the base. Its transparency and natural inclusions confer authenticity and a sense of geologic provenance, serving as a stable and visually imposing base for the sculpture. The entire work is mounted on a circular base of glossy black marble, offering a strong color contrast and essential structural stability for a piece of this size. The integration of a natural raw crystal as a support elevates the piece's intrinsic value, blending sculpture with the unaltered beauty of nature. This artifact stands out for its rare combination of sculptural mastery and mineralogical integrity. It represents not only a decorative art object but also a collectible specimen that unites the aesthetic beauty of different quartz varieties with the precision of the carving. The complexity of the materials and the attention to detail make it a piece of great interest for mineral collectors and enthusiasts of sculptures in hard stones.
