In this auction, a splendid, solid, and historically valuable vintage rangefinder camera with LTM screw mount: the Canon II, produced in Japan by Canon Camera Company Ltd. in Tokyo around the first half of the 1950s. The lot presents in good overall condition, with normal signs of use and preservation consistent with the object's age, and is complete with its original Serenar lens and the related metal front protective cap. Optics: The camera mounts the original Canon Camera Co. Japan Serenar 50mm 1:1.8. The lenses appear in good overall visual condition, clean and completely free of internal mold or fungus traces; only light, superficial cleaning scratches on the front element due to age and vintage use are present, which are purely cosmetic and do not compromise in any way the quality of the shot or the final image rendition. Mechanics: The lot has been tested and is mechanically functioning. The focal-plane shutter with flexible cloth blades responds to manual commands, operating at the various speeds selected via the double shutter-speed rings. Aesthetics: Good overall condition, as clearly documented by the photographs. The solid metal body preserves its original chrome and black finish, showing the classic and normal signs of time, minor surface handling scratches, and a small archival vintage number subtly engraved on the left side of the top cap.
