Up for auction, an enchanting single candlestick in gilded brass (or light bronze), featuring a splendid full-round sculptural work. The piece rests on a solid circular base finely decorated with acanthus and raised geometric motifs. The artistic centerpiece of the candlestick is the figure of a putto (or cherub). In classical and Baroque art, the putto is not just a decorative element, but a symbol of purity, joy, and a connection with the spiritual world. In this piece, the little angel is depicted in a dynamic and sinuous pose (chiasmo), with wings spread and a draped garment gently enveloping the body. With the left arm raised high, he gracefully supports the candle dish, transforming a functional object into a true tabletop sculpture. Material: Solid brass (or bronze) with a gilded finish. Details: The candle socket features an elegant burnished decoration in contrast with volute motifs. Patina: The piece displays a beautiful patina of time, with naturally darkened areas that accentuate the depth of the reliefs and the sculpture’s three-dimensionality. Conditions: Vintage.
