Calcite tree with red hematite

From our selection of collectible minerals, we offer a splendid group of Calcite crystals with Hematite from Daye County, Hubei, in China. Moreover, it is characterized by a double generation of scalenohedral calcite crystals, arranged to form a striking “tree” silhouette, with colors ranging from the reddish-brown of the included hematite to the white and orange-pink of the more recent terminations, which increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical significance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. The Daye district, in Hubei, is one of the oldest and historically important mining areas in China, exploited for its skarn-type iron ore deposits since Bronze Age times. In these deposits calcite often grows in association with hematite, whose ultra-thin embedded or overlaid crystals confer to the transparent terminations the characteristic reddish-brown tones. The growth in two distinct stages, visible in this specimen as a darker nucleus covered by a subsequent generation of lighter crystals, testifies to variations in the chemical-physical conditions of the mineralizing solution over time. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, even in the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always indicated in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best showcase colors and details; however, slight tone variations may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
