Burt Reynolds - The Cannonball Run (1981) & Smokey and...

Rare and highly decorative set of two original Japanese theatrical movie posters, both in the classic Japanese B2 format (approx. 51 × 73 cm). The perfect pairing for collectors of 1970s–1980s action cinema, American car culture and Japanese movie poster design. 1. The Cannonball Run (1981) Original Japanese theatrical B2 poster. Directed by Hal Needham, with an extraordinary cast including Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, Jackie Chan, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dom DeLuise. A particularly attractive Japanese design featuring the spectacular illustrated ensemble artwork and the large Japanese title typography. 2. Smokey and the Bandit (1977) Japanese theatrical B2 poster for the original film, released in Japan under the title Trans-Am 7000 (トランザム7000). Also directed by Hal Needham and starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason. Excellent Japanese artwork dominated by Burt Reynolds, the truck, Trans Am and action imagery. Together, the posters make a particularly coherent pair: two iconic Hal Needham films starring Burt Reynolds, celebrating high-speed chases, stunts and American automotive culture. Condition Both posters are original vintage examples and show signs consistent with age and theatrical use/storage. They have horizontal fold lines and some minor edge/corner wear. Smokey and the Bandit also shows small pinholes in the corners. Please examine all photographs carefully, including the photographs of the reverse sides, as they form an integral part of the condition description. The colours remain strong and both posters retain excellent visual impact.
