All auctions / Ethnographic / Burmese amber - Amber - Burmese Amber with Fossil Spider Inclusion – Cretaceous

atural Burmese amber specimen containing a clearly visible fossil spider accompanied by delicate organic remains, possibly an insect wing. The spider is preserved near one end of the polished piece, with its body and long articulated legs clearly distinguishable. The amber displays an attractive transparent golden-yellow colour, allowing the inclusion to be observed from different angles. Burmese amber, also known as Burmite, originates from northern Myanmar and dates to the mid-Cretaceous period, approximately 99 million years ago. It offers a remarkable glimpse into an ancient ecosystem inhabited by early arachnids and insects. The piece has been carefully shaped and polished to enhance its transparency and reveal the preserved inclusion. Small internal particles, natural fissures and minor surface irregularities are characteristic of genuine fossil amber. An appealing collector’s specimen combining palaeontological interest, rarity and an attractive presentation.
