Interesting work with an exposition of the medical knowledge of the era written by the Scottish physician William Buchan (1729 – 1805). The discussion spans various diseases, choice of medicines, care of the person, etc. etc. In full contemporary leather; red cut edges; interior correct. Overall, beautiful preservation. Contemporary binding in full leather with some flaws; antique manuscript ex-libris on the front. Wide margins. Very interesting, with the description of a series of experiments (almost monographs) on electricity, preparation of liquids, light, foods, circulation of the blood, colors, writing, etc. etc. There are eight plates folded at the end (no. 12 – 19): some slight browning.
