Her use of colour is mature and rich, and not decorative; the pictorial material generates visual depth. The handling of space is effective too, with dynamic, well-balanced compositions. One of the most successful aspects of Brooksby-Arcangioli’s work is her ability to convey visual sensuality through colour itself. The paint, applied either thickly or in translucent layers, invites an almost tactile experience, making the works engaging at different viewing distances. The inclusion of gold and silver leaf not only gives a precious and decorative appearance, but also introduces iridescent light reflections that vary with natural or artificial light, making the experience of the work dynamic and alive. There is also a refined awareness of composition; the distribution of colour masses across the surface reveals an underlying structure that is solid yet never random" Often I paint outside en plein air because the colors in nature are my inspiration. I am a professional painter who was born in New York and holds a degree in figurative sculpture from MICA in Maryland, USA. I lived 20 + years painting the Tuscan countryside, 14 years in Paris painting Contemporary Urban. And currently 5 on the French Riviera.
