British school (XIX) - Bambina con cane e paesaggio

Elegant 19th-century European painting depicting a young child seated in a landscape, accompanied by a dog. The child is portrayed with refined period clothing and a distinctive wide-brimmed hat. Beside him, the dog helps create an intimate and pleasant scene set in a wooded landscape. The composition presents an interesting balance between portrait character and genre painting. The oval format gives the work additional elegance and enhances its decorative character. Particularly noteworthy is the presence of the antique carved and gilded wooden frame, which harmoniously completes the painting and markedly increases its aesthetic presence. The surface shows a patina of time and widespread craquelure, features that confer on the work its authentic aged appearance. There are abrasions, small losses of color, and traces of previous interventions, visible in the photographs. The work is offered in its current condition and represents an interesting opportunity for collectors of 19th-century European painting and for those seeking antique works with strong decorative character. Purchased in Gibraltar in the 1970s, private collection NO SHIPPING UK, USA, SWITZERLAND
