Descriptio Wrought iron. Dimensions: 84 × 57 × 18 cm. An ancient form of ritual currency used by the Afo people in Nigeria, commonly offered as a dowry or as a symbol of alliance between families. Hand-forged, this piece reproduces the shape of a hoe, an agricultural tool symbolizing fertility, work, and prosperity. In addition to its economic value, it held profound social and spiritual significance within the community. It has a dark, even patina that highlights its authenticity and age. Provenance: private collection. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
