Bookends - Brass

An elegant cast antique French bookend in pierced brass, dating from the early 20th century (c. 1920). The design is executed in a richly decorated Neo-Gothic style, characterized by the pierced patterns reminiscent of a Gothic church window. The central element of the stand is a detailed griffin (a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the wings of an eagle) perched on a pedestal.
