BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1618-P PAL. Potosi Mint. Philip III. VERY FINE--Saltwater Damage. KM-9; Cal-630; Paoletti-151. Weight: 12.8 gms. An EXTREMELY RARE short-lived assayer that is only known on coins dated 1618. A nicely centered example with a virtually complete shield, full denomination, clear partial assayer monogram, bold cross, with decent castles and lions and a four digit date, though some the first and last digit are somewhat obscured. The surfaces are a bit bright, but most of the desirable design features are present. A charming example, a Grade 1, of this seldom encountered issue that is sure to excite even the most advanced of collectors. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: Ex: Atocha shipwreck, sunk on 6 September 1622, with COA from Treasure Salvors Inc.
