Lot Description: In auction, a single artistic reinterpretation of one of the most iconic 8mm cine cameras of the postwar era: the Bolex Paillard C8, produced in Switzerland in the 1950s. Concept and custom design: this specimen represents a fascinating homage to 1950s Switzerland, a golden era when the Swiss nation was the destination of excellence for international elite tourism, drawn by breathtaking landscapes, elegance and tranquility. The graphic design is the fruit of a careful study between several visual alternatives, aimed at perfectly blending the soul of the mechanical object with the iconography of travel of the era: Alpine / Zermatt Side: one side of the camera depicts the imposing Matterhorn towering over the historic Hotel Monte Rosa / Chalet Residence in Zermatt. Lake / Lugano Side: the other side celebrates the atmosphere and the dolce vita of the Swiss lakeside towns of the 1950s (with views of the famous Monte San Salvatore, lakeside promenade, and vintage architectures such as the Splendide Royal Hotel). Technical execution and materials: Desaturated colors: the color tones of the illustration were deliberately desaturated to return the warm, authentic patina of tourist postcards and magazines from the era, integrating perfectly with the metallic finishes of the camera. New-generation technical coating: the original leatherette has been replaced with an innovative technical material that is durable.
