The vehicle was presented by BMW as an "Urban Mobility Vehicle": an innovative concept designed to combine the maneuverability of a scooter with the safety and comfort of a car. The introduction (2000): After the presentation of the first concepts in the late 1990s, the BMW C1 officially rolled onto the market in spring 2000. Production was outsourced to the well-known Italian coachbuilder Bertone. The first version was the C1 125, equipped with a 125cc Rotax engine (15 hp). The motorcycle is delivered for export without battery and fuel, with an exported Dutch license plate, so driving on Dutch roads is no longer possible. For foreign buyers we provide Europe-wide accepted export documents (without a COC), but further registration is at the buyer's own expense and must be arranged by the buyer.
