Black Sabbath - Vol

Rare Portuguese Círculo de Leitores club edition of Black Sabbath's Vol. 4, issued in 1975 by Pergola as a dedicated members-only release. What makes this pressing especially collectible is the completely alternative Portuguese sleeve design, which departs entirely from the familiar international Vol. 4 artwork. Instead of the standard packaging, the Círculo de Leitores issue presents its own distinctive locally produced sleeve, making it immediately recognisable among worldwide Black Sabbath pressings. The rear sleeve carries the defining wording: "Edição especial para os sócios do CÍRCULO DE LEITORES" together with the Lisbon address, confirming that this was a dedicated members-only club edition rather than a standard Portuguese retail release. The sleeve carries catalogue number 2098 on the back, while the record itself retains the original WWA 009 designation on the labels, linking the pressing to the seminal WWA issue while presenting it in this special Portuguese club packaging. Portuguese Círculo de Leitores copies of Vol. 4 with this unusual sleeve are far less commonly encountered than the standard UK and continental European editions, making this a notable find for serious collectors. ⸻ Sleeve (VG): The very scarce alternative club sleeve shows genuine age and use, with visible staining and ringwear apparent throughout. Despite these signs of wear, the sleeve remains structurally sound and presentable, with the distinctive Círculo de Leitores artwork and rear information clearly visible and legible → VG Vinyl : Audio (VG+) / Visual (VG): Side 1 retains a nice original shine and remains a solid VG+ example, showing only normal light signs of previous play. Side 2 presents a different picture visually, displaying several more unusual and clearly visible surface marks. Importantly, these marks are not feelable during playback, and the side plays considerably better than its visual appearance suggests, delivering good overall performance without serious playback problems → VG -> VG+ audio ⸻ Details * Portuguese Círculo de Leitores club edition * Pergola label, catalogue 2098 * Special edition for club members only * Unique alternative Portuguese sleeve design * Rear sleeve text confirms members-only edition with Lisbon address * Labels retain original WWA 009 designation * Made in Portugal
