Black Chalama Opal Ring / polished / new- 2.48 g - (1)

Ring Black Chalama Opal / polished / new Set in 925 sterling silver 11.1 mm x 9.4 mm Weight: 2.48 g New and unworn Ring size: EU 55 UK O US 7.2 FR 15 Inner diameter: 17.5 mm Black opals, like their differently colored counterparts, occur as either spherical to knobbly masses without a detectable crystal structure. Their beauty usually reveals itself only after the stone is cut/polished. Characteristic of this form of opals is their opalescence, which appears as a vivid rainbow sheen. Moreover, the host rock of the opal here is dark, grayish to black, which gave it its name. Black opals form, just like other opals, from siliceous liquids that crystallize in sedimentary or volcanic rocks. Their characteristic shimmer is due to water inclusions inside the mineral.
