BINDING. — Holy Week Liturgy, in Latin and French, for use in Rome and Paris. Paris, Louis Dupuis Jr., 1737. In-8, brown morocco, elaborate compartmentalized decoration on the covers, adorned with filigree metalwork, a field of fleurs-de-lis, and various fleurons, coat of arms in the center, spine similarly decorated, lining and endpapers of gilded paper with stenciled floral motifs, gilt edges (Contemporary binding). A very beautiful, decorated binding bearing the coat of arms of Queen Marie Leszczyńska (1703–1768). Text set in lines. Handwritten note on a slip of paper glued to an endpaper: This volume was given by Queen Marie Leczinska, wife of Louis XV, to one of her ladies-in-waiting in 1737. Volume is slightly warped; there is a stain on the front cover and spine. There are stains and foxing on the text pages, a small tear missing some letters on folio R8, and a small tear in the margin of folio S1.
