Bifora Calatrava Style – Manual Wind – Silver Dial – 33 mm An elegant vintage mechanical timepiece with a superb configuration, this Bifora combines a warm gold-plated case with a refined silver dial and distinctive applied hour markers. Its faceted gold-toned hands, prominent Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock and balanced 33 mm proportions capture the understated appeal of a classic Calatrava-style dress watch. Technical Details Brand: Bifora Model: Vintage Calatrava-style dress watch Case: Gold-plated case Diameter: 33 mm, excluding the crown Crystal: Acrylic Dial: Silver dial with an outer dotted minute track Hour markers: Applied gold-toned tapered markers, with broader triangular markers at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock and an Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock Hands: Faceted gold-toned hour and minute hands with a slender central seconds hand Movement: Mechanical movement Winding: Manual wind Jewels: 17, as indicated on the dial Functions: Hours, minutes and central seconds Case back: Solid steel Water resistance: Not tested Strap: Generic dark brown leather strap with an embossed pattern Wrist size: Suitable for a wrist of up to approximately 21 cm Accessories: Supplied with a generic presentation box Condition Report Grade B – Good vintage condition, with signs of use consistent with age. The gold-plated case displays surface scratches, small marks and localised wear to the plating, particularly around the edges and lugs. The steel case back shows scratches and opening marks. The silver dial presents age-related spotting and discolouration, especially towards the upper edge, while the applied markers and hands show patina and wear to their finish. The acrylic crystal displays surface marks, and the generic leather strap shows creasing and wear. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an essential part of the condition description. The watch’s water resistance has not been tested. Contact with water should therefore be avoided. Story & Heritage Bifora belongs to Germany’s historic watchmaking tradition. Its origins lie in the business established by Josef Bidlingmaier in Schwäbisch Gmünd around 1900, which developed into a recognised name in wristwatch production. This vintage example expresses the elegance of the traditional dress watch through a superb configuration of silver and gold tones. The tapered hour markers draw the eye towards the centre, while the broader triangular markers and prominent numeral at 12 o’clock give the dial a distinctive identity. The faceted hands complement the sculptural markers, creating subtle changes in reflection as the watch moves in the light. A dotted minute track frames the composition, and the slender central seconds hand adds movement without disturbing the dial’s balanced appearance. Inside, the manual-wind mechanism preserves the daily ritual of traditional mechanical timekeeping. With its compact 33 mm case, warm gold-plated finish and characterful silver dial, this Bifora offers an appealing combination of German watchmaking heritage and enduring Calatrava-style elegance.
