Exceptional collection of 17 complete, consecutive folders containing a total of 153 vintage educational, natural history postcards from the mid-20th century, issued by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (KBIN). All series are strictly complete and the postcards are in an unused, unmarked condition (mint). The scientific illustrations of the fauna are very detailed and drawn by well-known artists of the time. This lot includes the following series (bilingual Dutch/French, each folder contains 9 cards): * Mammals of Belgian Fauna: Complete, unbroken series from folder 1 to 7 (cards nos. 1 through 63). It is extremely rare to find this consecutive series in this condition. * Insects of Belgium: 4 folders (36 cards from the systematic and economic collection, including beetles and butterflies). * Other animal species (54 cards): Freshwater fishes of Belgium (Series 1), Amphibians and Reptiles of Belgium (Series 1), Poultry (Series 1), Mammals of the Whole World (Series 1). * Parasitology: Parasitic worms of humans (Series 1), Parasitic forms of domestic animals (Series 1). Condition of the lot: Excellent vintage condition. The paper cover folders may show slight signs of aging (see photos for a good impression). The 153 postcards in the folders are however completely unused and without creases or dog-ears. A beautiful lot for collectors of natural history, scientific illustrated cards, or vintage biological illustrations.
