Bang & Olufsen Beocord 6500 fully automatic cassette deck with Auto Reverse, designed by Jacob Jensen and produced in Denmark (circa 1989–1991). The unit has recently been completely technically revised: equipped with new drive belts, new springs, renewed gears and new cassette drive cords, with heads also re-tuned to an extremely high degree of precision. The deck therefore functions 100% perfectly and is visually used with clear signs of wear corresponding to its age and intensive use. Within the premium Beosystem 6500, the Beocord 6500 represents the ultimate combination of sleek Danish design and advanced analog recording technology. The device is equipped with a whisper-quiet motorized drawer system that slides out after a light touch of the aluminum front panel. A technical milestone of this deck is the patented HX Pro system (developed by Bang & Olufsen in collaboration with Dolby), which significantly increases the dynamic headroom at high frequencies by continuously adjusting the bias current. In combination with the automatic Auto Reverse system, the deck plays and records both sides of the cassette seamlessly without quality loss. Sonically, the Beocord 6500 delivers an extremely dynamic, detailed and open sound that elevates the analog cassette format to an audiophile level. The unit features automatic recognition of all four tape types (Ferro, Chrome, FerriChrome and Metal), automatic recording level control with peak detection, and support for Dolby B as well as Dolby C noise reduction. Thanks to the integrated Datalink communication system, the player can also be controlled remotely via Beolink terminals.
