Baird, Texas. $20 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1802-1. First NB. Charter #3286. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20. Situated to the east of Abilene in Callahan County, Baird is a tough prospect for those who specialize in National Bank Notes from Texas. Served by the First National Bank (Charter# 3286) and the Home National Bank (Charter# 5493) only 13 non-institutional notes are recorded between the two institutions. Here the First National Bank does manage to record the "lion's share" of the recorded population with 10 non-institutional notes recorded, but numbers alone fail to reflect the rarity of this specific bank. Over the span of several decades only a smattering of appearances dominated by a number of T1 $10s can be traced making this a rare opportunity to consider for a type and denomination that records only a single appearance between now and 2003. Estimate: $800 - $1,200. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
