atural Bahia Green Quartz – A landscape enclosed in crystal Obelisk carved from natural quartz from Bahia, Brazil, characterized by a delicate green hue, a partially transparent structure, and a complex array of inclusions and internal fractures that become visible through the polished surfaces. The specimen presents an elongated shape, with a wide, stable base that progressively narrows toward a pointed termination, faceted. The polishing allows light to pass through the mineral and highlight the different zones of transparency, creating depth and visual superpositions. The coloration is not uniform. In the upper part, shades of sage green and gray-green are observed, while in the lower zone lighter, almost colorless tones prevail, accompanied by white-milky veils. In some points the crystal takes on slightly yellowish reflections, particularly evident when traversed by light. One of the most interesting aspects of the specimen is its internal structure. Through the polished faces, numerous discontinuities, thin healed cracks, reflective planes, and small dark inclusions stand out. Some structures appear as ultra-thin filaments, others form more complex intertwinings, visible mainly in the central and upper portions. These features recount part of the geological history of the material. Quartz often forms from the circulation of silica-rich fluids within fractures and cavities of rocks. During crystal growth, variations in chemical and physical conditions can favor the incorporation of other minerals, the formation of fluid inclusions, and the development of internal discontinuities. The Brazilian region of Bahia is known for numerous quartz deposits, with crystals that can show different degrees of transparency, colorations, and mineral associations. The green observable in some quartz specimens may depend on the presence of mineral inclusions, including iron-rich minerals, or on particular characteristics of the material. The exact cause of the coloration of this specimen cannot be established from the sole photographs.
